Two women killed in Egypt Red Sea shark attacks

The body of a Romanian tourist in her late 40s was found hours after an attack that killed an Austrian woman, 68, two sources told Reuters. The attacks took place off the coast of Sahl Hasheesh, 600 meters (1,969 feet) apart, according to sources.

The ministry said in a statement that a committee was formed to examine the circumstances of the attacks and the scientific reasons behind them.

It was also stated that the Governor of the Red Sea Governorate, Major General Amr Hanafi, issued an order to suspend all activities around the attacks.

The first victim was transferred to a local private hospital, a source from the Red Sea Health Department told Reuters. He added that there were attempts to resurrect him, but that he died from his wounds.

A security source added that the Austrian woman has been living in Egypt with her Egyptian husband for the past five years.
