The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights condemns the Houthis’ continued violations of the armistice

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights condemned the Houthis’ continued violation of the armistice and their crimes against civilians of all categories, particularly children, women and the elderly, and their bombing of populated areas with artillery and rockets.

The ministry said in a statement reported by the Yemeni news agency “Saba”, that the preliminary statistics indicate that the number of violations of the armistice since its entry into force in the beginning of last April until today amounted to about 2782 violations, distributed among 656 violations on the fronts of Taiz, and 634 violations on the fronts of Al-Dhalea, Lahj and Abyan. 386 breaches in the western coast and Hodeidah front, 555 breaches in the Saada al-Baqqa front, and 551 breaches in the Marib and al-Jawf fronts.

The Ministry denounced the heinous crime committed by the group on Friday evening with an artillery shell targeting the house of a citizen in the “Hahran” area in Taiz governorate, and caused the death of a 5-year-old child and the injury of his parents, noting that this crime is an extension of the Houthi crimes in Taiz and other Yemeni governorates.

The ministry stressed that committing crimes against civilians and exploiting them for military gain undermines the humanitarian truce, in addition to being war crimes and crimes against humanity that do not have a statute of limitations, calling on the mechanisms of the United Nations, the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and all those working in the field of human rights to condemn this Crimes and putting pressure on these militias to stop targeting civilians and their tendency to peace, and to work to hold them accountable for those crimes.
